The aim of Bodog blackjack is to accumulate cards with point totals as close to 21 without going over. You only have to beat the dealers hand so the other players’ hands at the table are irrelevant. Face cards (Jacks, Queens and Kings) are all worth 10 points and Aces are worth 1 or 11, whichever is preferred. Other cards are equal to their number.

If the House and the player tie then it’s called a push and there is no winner. If you are dealt an Ace and 10 on the first two cards, you have Blackjack and this is an automatic player win at 1. 5 to 1 (odds differ at each casino), unless the house ties.

Most casinos will use somewhere between 6 to 8 decks of cards for each Bodog Blackjack game. The dealer will shuffle the cards (usually via a shuffling machine) and the cards are cut by one of the players who inserts the cut card into the deck.

Each player will make a bet and the dealer will deal two cards face up to each player. The dealer will also receive 2 cards however the second card is usually face down. Each player has many options (see below) from here depending on what their cards are and what card the dealer has. Usually when the dealer has a count of 17 or higher they must must stand/stay but on counts of 16 or lower, they must hit/draw.

Player Options

Stand – If you don’t want to be dealt any more cards then you will stand or stay as some may phrase the term

Hit – To ask for another card you “hit”. You can continue this process until you wither win, want to stand or bust.

Double – The double feature is different depending on which online casino you choose to play at, the normal rules for doubling is that your first two cards must equal nine, ten or eleven. To accomplish this you only need to put up an amount equal to the original bet. The kicker here is that once you decide to pursue this avenue you must accept the card you are dealt. If you do not bust you can only hope that the dealer does.

Split – If you get two cards that are the same in value you can split them by making the same bet on each card. This makes two new hands from the previous one, each is then played as separate entities. It depends on the site how many time you are allowed to do this.

Surrender – Not all casinos allow this but you can sometimes dismiss a hand that is not to your liking and reclaim at least half of the original wager.
